The Butthole Surfers are an American alternative rock band. The band was founded by Gibby Haynes and Paul Leary in San Antonio, Texas in 1982; the pair met while students at Trinity University. Incorporating elements of hardcore, psychedelia, and performance art, their live shows also made heavy use of strobe lights, background films (of note, footage of penis reconstruction surgery) and naked dancers.

While their line-up has changed frequently over the years, they have maintained a core membership of Haynes (vocals), Leary (guitar), and King Coffey (drums). For much of their career the band also included Teresa Taylor as a second drummer. The band has been through numerous bass players, including Jeff Pinkus and Mark Kramer (of Bongwater and Shimmy Disc).

No Use for a Name (Abbreviated NUFAN) is a Punk rock band from San Jose, CA, USA, formed in 1987 by Tony Sly and Rory Koff. The band is highly praised in the Skate punk and Hardcore punk scenes, though the band's sound has evolved considerably through its career, taking on a much lighter and poppier brand of melodic punk as the years passed.

The band was first featured on Maximum RocknRoll's 1987 Turn It Around compilation, with the song Gang Way. A year later, the band's debut EP, Let 'em Out, was released through Slap-A-Ham Records.

NUFAN's debut album, Incognito, was released in 1990 through New Red Archives. The band has released a single and one more full-length on this label, until breaking into the mainstream and signing up with Fat Mike's label, Fat Wreck Chords, on 1993. At that year, No Use For a Name released its first record on Fat, The Daily Grind, which turned to be a highly successful album.
